It’s Time to Try Again

There have been many times in my life when I have stopped writing, stopped reading, and stopped pursuing my dream. At those moments, when I was completely lost, I thought I had already failed. That taking a break meant I could never come back, that it wasn’t meant to be.

I saw someone say that instead of saying, “I failed,” try saying, “I can try again.” I could give you all the reasons why I stopped pursuing my dream, but that wouldn’t get us anywhere. So instead, I will tell you that it is time to try again.

This time, we are going to try harder than we ever have before. By the time you see this, I have spent hours upon hours rebuilding a website, preparing social media, rereading my drafts, and preparing to take this dream to reality.

It is not going to be easy. Consistency has been my biggest weakness, but with a healthy amount of motivation from my loved ones and my future readers, I can overcome everything that has ever stopped me in the past.

Here are the next steps in my journey (in no particular order):

  1. Finish editing Royal Eyes - the one I have been working on for many years now.

  2. Build a social media following - I did not grow up with socials, so this might be the most nerve-wracking step for me!

  3. Post consistently on all platforms and my website - starting small with maybe twice a week on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, but bi-monthly for blog posts!

  4. Start writing my standalone novel, Break Me.

I have thought about giving myself deadlines for some of these, but I worry that it will give me unnecessary stress. Instead, we are going to celebrate each small win and goal achieved!

Now, I want to clear the air around something. I want to be traditionally published. I want to query and get rejection letters and feel the excitement of getting an offer. I have nothing against self-publishing; it is just not the route I am going to be taking. There have been many people who have asked me if I plan to self-publish, and each time I tell them no, they seem to share glances between themselves. If I am being completely honest, that just motivates me more to go the traditional route, no matter how hard it may turn out to be.

That is where you come in, being able to show that I have interested readers will go a long way to getting a book deal. I will not ask anything of you, but I am immensely glad you are here and appreciate every interaction you make with my content. Thank you so much.

Please tell your cats I said, “Hi,” and until next time,

Chelsea
